Get Sand and Sunscreen Out the Eyes

When you get sand or sunscreen in your eyes, you know to just splash some water in the area and you’ll be okay. “A child’s natural inclination will be to rub at it, but he can cause further damage,” says Gardner. Tilt your child’s head to the side and back and rinse out the eye by flushing it with bottled water for a few minutes. “Try to keep his hands out of his eye.” You may not see anything in the eye after rinsing, but if your child is still complaining about pain after a few minutes, you need to get to the ER because he may have scratched the cornea.
