It may seem pointless to slim down right before you're about to about to pack on some pregnancy pounds. But a woman who is at a healthy weight before pregnancy is less likely to have serious complications -- such as high blood pressure or diabetes -- during pregnancy, says Elizabeth Lynch, a spokesperson for the March of Dimes.
