Outdoor allergens are more difficult to control. Aside from moving to the South Pole, it is hard to keep from coming in contact with something that is flying around in the air outside. However, there are a few things that can be done:
- Keep your child's bedroom windows closed.
- Take a bath and wash the hair each night.
- If you air dry the clothes and linens, do it inside.
- Try not to use clothes more than once between wearing if the child has played outside in them.
As you can see, while there is a good amount that can be done for inside allergens, there isn't a whole lot that may be done for outside ones. And while good control of inside allergens may help avoid the need for allergy medications, many children with allergies to outside things will need these medicines to alleviate the miserable symptoms of allergies.
