Giuliana & Bill Rancic's Top 3 Fit Tips

If this couple can fit wellness into their busy lives, so can you -- and it's easier than you might expect!

It’s easy to get caught up in our day-to-day and make up excuses for not exercising or eating right. But don’t give your cop-outs to Giuliana and Bill Rancic. The extra busy parents -- Bill’s an entrepreneur, Giuliana’s the co-host of E! News and Fashion Police, and the whole family are the stars of the reality show, Giuliana & Bill -- don’t let their nonstop schedules detract from leading a healthy lifestyle. How do they work in working out and avoid the drive-thru for dinner? Here are their tips for incorporating wellness into your week -- no calendar reminders necessary.

1. Keep it simple

Hard-pressed for time? “You don’t have to do a lot to stay in shape,” Giuliana says. “We do the treadmill for cardio for 45 minutes. We walk, run, do some weights. We keep it simple.” How simple? “Everywhere we go, we take the stairs,” Giuliana says. “Even at the airport I’ll lug my carry-on up the stairs while everyone is on the escalator. It does pay off, those little things. It can really make a big difference.”

2. Multi-tasking isn’t only for the office

Here’s some time-management advice from the new parents: Take full advantage of baby’s naptime. “We used to work out a lot more together, but now with the baby, we built a little home gym ,” Giuliana says. “It’s nice because we can work out and talk and watch TV together. We do it during naptime.” Multi-tasking while exercising doesn’t even have to happen in the gym. While traveling, Bill uses his downtime doing laps around the terminal. “If I have an hour to kill, I’ll just walk around the airport to get some exercise,” he says. “Instead of sitting around eating the food at the airport – man, that’s always the kiss of death – I try to be creative with my time.”

3. Always be prepared (with healthy snacks)

If you’ve ever considered vending machine snacks a meal, it’s time to start doing a little prep work before that bag-of-Doritos-for-lunch becomes habit. “We try to eat organic when we can, especially when we go grocery shopping,” Giuliana says. “We try to eat things that are natural and come from the earth.” Stock up on granola bars that “are as natural as possible and have as few ingredients as possible,” Giuliana suggests, and throw one in your purse for that unexpected snack attack. “I bring a KIND bar with me and that helps steer me away from eating out of boredom,” Bill admits. Besides bars, Giuliana makes sure to have mixed nuts on hand for those times when hunger hits. “I love nuts,” she says. “I eat a lot of almonds and cashews. I’ve already had a couple handfuls of almonds today!”
