The February issue of Glamour (on stands now) features It-model Crystal Renn in a high-fashion spread entitled, "You’d Look Even Better Naked.” “Great,” you might be thinking. “That’s nice, but we’ve been seeing more plus-sized models everywhere lately. It’s just not that ground-breaking anymore.” But what makes this layout so exciting is the fact that virtually no mention is made of Renn’s size throughout the spread. She’s wearing Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs – haute couture we don’t typically see on size 12 and up women – and yet the only reference to her size is and the very end, in teeny print, where she’s credited as “Crystal Renn at Ford+ .” That’s it – just a little, itty-bitty “+.” I just think it’s nice to see a mainstream magazine showcasing a different type of beauty, but without all the bells and whistles or headlines screaming, "Hey! Look at us! We've got a plus-sized model! We’re edgy!" That is how you know real change is taking place.
