Singer Gotye Calls 'Glee' Cover of His Song "Dinky and Wrong"

The Australian singer was pleased with the show's "faithful arrangement of the instrumentals," but was not onboard with the sound editing

Apparently not everyone loves the Glee versions of their songs. Australian singer Gotye (whose real name is Wally de Backer) isn't a huge fan of the Darren Criss and Matt Bomer duet of his hit single "Somebody I Used to Know."

The indie rocker, who just performed at Coachella in California, opened up to a newspaper from Down Under about his thoughts on the cover.

The rocker, whose vocals have been compared to Sting and Peter Gabriel, also went on to tell Australia's Sunday Herald Sun that the say the Glee version "made it sound dinky and wrong." Yikes.

Gotye's review of the cover wasn't all bad though. "They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals," Gotye told the Sunday Mail. "But the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra-dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it's playing to you from a cardboard box."

That's not exactly high praise for one of three televised performances of the song (Phillip Phillips and Elise Testone also covered it on American Idol and then Gotye himself sang at Saturday Night Live) that helped it skyrocket up the Billboard charts.
