Well, the first sneak peek at Glee's upcoming season (premiering on Tuesday, Sep. 25, on FOX) has arrived (via a tweet from Ryan Murphy). And -- surprise, surprise -- Brittany (Heather Morris) has the best one-liner. Not since Woody on Cheers has there been such a brilliantly idiotic TV character. But chances are, most Glee fans aren't old enough to remember Cheers, so let's just say Brittany's the best! Watch the teaser here:
Other conversation topics the promo provokes:
1. How will Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) win over her condescending NYADA teacher, Cassandra July, played by the ultra dewy-complected Kate Hudson (pictured on the Glee set via a Twitpic from Ryan Murphy!)? Of course, we already know that Rachel will persevere; as Michele told the Huffington Post, "It's going to be a challenge for her, but I think that Rachel definitely works at her best when she has to fight against something, or when she sort of has the odds stacked against her."
2. Who's the Rachel lookalike with the face full of Slushie? It appears to be Homeland's Melissa Benoist, who's playing a new McKinley High student named Marley. She seems an awful lot like Rachel, doesn't she? Hmmm, maybe she'll end up pining for the Finn doppelganger Blake Jenner who just won The Glee Project?
3. Is that, by any chance, an emotion of loving kindness coming from Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) as she cradles her new baby in her arms? "Momentarily I'm nice," Lynch told E! Online about her season 4 storyline. "I've just given birth to a beautiful baby girl who has Down syndrome and her name is Robin. Which to say hearkens thoughts of spring and new beginnings and her favorite Bee Gee."
Overall, it looks like season 4 (which premieres on Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox) will be going in a (slightly) New Direction!
