Fans of the hit Fox show Glee -- or "Gleeks" as they're known -- got a long-awaited treat today when Fox released a teaser trailer promoting the show's April 13 return. The first season of the Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning series was split (the last new episode, the mid-season finale, aired Dec. 9, 2009) and since the hiatus began, fans of the show have had to get by on simply listening to the series' soundtracks. (Two volumes have been released since November.)
Check out the new teaser here:
Luckily, it looks like things are pretty much just as we left them at McKinley High. Devious (albeit hilarious) cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is still butting heads with her arch nemesis, sweet glee-club director Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison (in the clip, Sue tells Will she "will not be burying any hatchets, not unless I get a clear shot to your groin"). Rachel (Lea Michele) continues to endure torture from peers in the hallway (she gets yet another dreaded slushie thrown in her face and her fashion sense is skewered when a fellow student says her sweaters "make her look home schooled"). And the rest of the New Directions singers are still rehearsing and performing their hearts out (we can look forward to their rendition of The Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye").
Of course, major drama and cliffhangers were also alluded to in the minute-long commercial, including a kiss between Will and guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) that's interrupted by his soon-to-be ex-wife Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig). It also looks like Rachel might be sharing an onstage kiss, though it's hard to make out just who she's making out with (Puck? Finn? Upcoming guest Jonathan Groff?)
The long-anticipated all-Madonna episode is also referenced, including a listen to the Glee kids' take on "Express Yourself," and a laugh-out-loud moment from Sue in which she hollers at the Cheerios team, "Somewhere in the English countryside, in a stately manor home, Madonna is weeping!" As Kurt (Chris Colfer) says in the preview, "It's gonna be magical!"
