Go Overboard with Pictures

Connect your kids to the past by creating a collage of family photographs. “Use photos of siblings, grandparents, and other relatives and friends -- and don’t just use current pictures,” Cortney says. “We did a huge wall of family photos in our son Wolfie’s bedroom when he was born, and one of the pictures was of my father-in-law as a baby. We realized that he had huge hands, just like Wolfie did.” When the kids are ready to decorate their own rooms, you can move the framed photos to another part of the house. And don't be afraid to go big -- let the collage take over an entire wall.
