The Golden Opulence Sundae at Serendipity 3, New York City
Created in honor of Serendipity 3's 50th anniversary in 2005, the Golden Opulence Sundae holds the title of World's Most Expensive ice cream sundae. What does $1,000 buy you? Three scoops of Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, covered in edible 23-karat gold leaf and smothered in Amedei Porcelana, the world's most expensive chocolate. If that doesn't sound extravagant enough, a tiny bowl of Grande Passion caviar (a sweet creation infused with passion fruit, orange and Armagnac) rests atop a laundry list of other luxury ingredients. Even the serving vessel is over the top—it's a Baccarat crystal goblet and an 18-karat gold spoon!
