It's the holidays, which in Hollywood-speak means some of the best and top-grossingest movies are in theaters now.
So, before you trundle off to the theaters to take in all the glorious movies of the season, here are some facts, factoids and gossip about the stars of the big movies of the moment:
Susan Sarandon is said to have put in an amazing performance as a heavy-drinking and smoking grandmother in The Lovely Bones. But in real life, it looks like her Christmas might be a little less jolly: She and longtime partner Tim Robbins have called it quits.
Heath Ledger's final film appearance is in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which opens on Christmas. Because he died before shooting was completed, a list of heavy-hitting actors picked up where he left off in the role of "Tony": Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell play Tonys 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
Jude Law isn't just a fill-in in Imaginarium, he's a major player in another film opening this week: Sherlock Holmes. In his off-screen life, he's been rumored to be taming his player ways and possibly going back to his former lover, Sienna Miller.
Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin are getting most of the press for Nancy Meyers' It's Complicated, but John Krasinski, who plays "Jim" on The Office, has a romance worth talking about. His fiancee, Emily Blunt, received a Golden Globe nod for her role in The Young Victoria -- and it was Krasinski who got to announce the news in last week's Globes press conference.
