Album of the Year: '21,' Adele

No album has garnered more applause this year than Adele’s sophomore release, 21, which has produced three number-one singles ("Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain"). Globally, it has sold more than 17 million copies and it's noticeably more upbeat than her debut album, 19. Critics and fans across genres and continents have put Adele on a pedestal that currently hoists her higher than fellow nominee and rock veterans, Foo Fighters. Not even Lady Gaga’s Born This Way was nearly as well-received as 21, and Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans and Rihanna’s Loud only reached marginal success in comparison. They say success is the best revenge when it comes to a painful breakup, and this British crooner is about to serve it up hot!
