Surprisingly, just one cup of most granolas contains about eight teaspoons of sugar even though they may not taste tooth-achingly sweet. Don’t be fooled by the use of the following terms on granola labels: honey, brown sugar and cane sugar. These are simply alternate forms of sugar with the same 15 calories per teaspoon as regular sugar and contain no nutritional benefits. Limit your granola indulgence to a tablespoon or two as a topping for yogurt or low-fat frozen treats.
