Our Favorite Green Crafts For Kids

Skip the craft store trip and use materials you already have instead: That's the beauty of these green kids crafts -- cheap, creative and recycled! A perfect combo.

Yarn People
From: Almost Unschoolers
What It Is: Adorable little yarn people and other creations
Why We Love It: Who knew that one spool of yarn could create hours of play for the kids? You can create a yarn person -- or a family of them! Perfect for the dollhouse, or if you opt to put a magnet on the back, the fridge!
What You’ll Need: A cardboard box, different colors of yarn, school glue, scissors and a pencil
How To Do It: First, lightly draw an outline of the figure you want to create on a piece of cardboard. Then outline part of the picture in glue --remember to do one part of the picture at a time so the glue doesn't dry before you are finished adding yarn. Lay and press pieces of yarn over the glued areas, trimming the yarn as you go. Once you are finished, set your picture aside to dry.
