Grey's Anatomy Recap: May 10
Did Meredith and McDreamy have more drama? Did George kiss Izzie the elevator again? And why did the chief's (ex) wife need to see Addison? Read our recap!
Test Day
Today is the day all of the docs must take their intern exams. While Callie is quizzing George for his exam, she finds a letter from Mercy West saying they have a spot for him. Burke's best man cancels on him for his wedding the next day, and he asks Derek to fill in. When Burke tries to talk to Cristina about her vows, she blows him off, claiming "test day." Today is also the day the chief resident and new chief will be announced, but of course, we won't find that out until next week's finale.
Meredith seems to be holding everything together until her father (who slapped her across the face last week upon finding out his wife had died in surgery) shows up at the hospital. He screams at Mer and tells her to come nowhere near the funeral. He said he trusted Meredith and she killed Susan. When it's time for the interns to take the exam, the chief tries to comfort Meredith by telling her it was not her fault. She tells him to stop being her surrogate father. "Just because you slept with my mother, does not make you my father," she says. During the test period, Mer doesn't fill out a single answer on her Scantron sheet.
The Patients
Three climbers who had been lost on Mount Raineer were rescued and brought to Seattle Grace. Callie helps out with all three complex surgeries, which puts her in the running for chief resident alongside Bailey. The fourth climber is brought in at the end, with seemingly more substantial injuries. Um, hello, he's got an ax in his head!
Joe and his partner bring a pregnant woman to Addison who they say might be their birth mother -- in the sense that they might adopt her baby. When Addison does the sonogram, she tells all three of them that the woman is going to have twins. The woman tells them all the other couple she is considering to be the adoptive parents is in their 40s. This pulls at Addison's heart strings as she realizes that she, too, is near that age and will not be able to have a baby.
Richard's soon-to-be-ex wife, Adelle, checks into the hospital after she's involved in a fender bender. She tells Addison, who is on her case, that she doesn't want Richard to know she is there. But she also tells her that she's pregnant -- at 52. What?!? How is that even possible? Menopause anyone? Guess not. She doesn't let us know if the baby is Richard's, but I'm guessing not.
Jane Doe Remembers
Alex realizes that Jane Doe has regained part of her memory when she makes a comment about her baby looking like her father. When Alex pressures her further, she admits that she remembered everything about who she is two days beforehand. Turns out she had left the guy she was married to in favor of a more exciting life. Alex threatens to tell everyone she has her memory back, and she reminds him that it will only be her word against his, and he doesn't even know her real name.
Izzie and George
Izzie so much doesn't want George to go to Mercy West that she tells Bailey about it. Bailey tells Geroge that if he leaves it'll be the biggest mistake of his life, and she won't let him make it. Later, Izzie confronts George, saying the sex didn't mean anything to her, so George doesn't need to leave. I'm calling Bulls**t on Izzie. And sure enough, when she leaves the room, the tears come rolling down.
Meredith Is Still on the Train
The chief gives Meredith another chance to take the intern exam, and says he knows he's not her father. Mer lets go and allows the chief to hug her. Moments later, Derek walks by and sees Meredith filling out her test.
The End
Jane Doe caves and tells Alex her name is Rebecca Pohl. Cristina still hasn't written her vows. Derek, Addison and McSteamy take Burke out for his seriously lame bachelor party. Derek meets a girl who is very reminscent of Meredith but cuter. He turns down her offer to buy him a drink. The woman who is pregnant with Joe and his partner's baby comes back to the bar, and she collapses after saying her heartburn won't go away. The chief sees Adelle in the hospital, but when she sees him, she runs into the bathroom. When she doesn't come out, he goes in and finds her lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
And One More Thing
While Cristina is bitching about writing her vows and how they can't really mean that whole "to love and to cherish forever" stuff, Izzie flips out on her, Meredith and Callie. If you didn't take for granted the fact that you all already have those things, she says, they'd be all you could think about. Meredith asks if she's referring to Denny. Izzie answer couldn't be more transport. Does anyone else think they really need to drop this whole George/Izzie storyline? I'm so over it.
