Start rejoicing, Grey's Anatomy fans! The original crew of docs is returning to Seattle Grace for at least two more years.
According to Deadline, after prolonged contract negotiations, Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all signed on to remain on the series.
With the stars' contracts up in the air, series creator Shonda Rimes made sure the current season's finale paved a way for Meredith (Pompeo), Derek (Dempsey), Christina (Oh), and Karev (Chambers) to take fellowships and appointments at various hospitals across the country.
But now that it's clear the stars -- and the show -- are continuing (ABC announced on Thursday that it was renewing the hit medical season for a ninth season), viewers should expect the game-changing season finale to keep most -- if not all -- of their favorite doctors in Seattle.
In addition to renewing Grey's Anatomy, ABC also ordered full seasons three other dramas: Once Upon a Time, Revenge, and Castle, and three comedies: Modern Family, The Middle and Suburgatory.
The season 8 finale of Grey's Anatomy -- which features a major character's death -- airs next Thursday, May 17.
