Greyson Chance's Lady Gaga Tribute Reportedly Lands Him a Record Deal

Find out why the sixth-grade YouTube sensation showcased on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime show, may be the next Justin Bieber

What does it take to become a YouTube sensation these days? Lady Gaga's vocal chops, Justin Bieber's teen heartthrob haircut and a little bit of chance. Sixth grader Greyson Chance is a bona fide overnight success with his startlingly good cover of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi." An amateur video of the 12-year-old pianist singing his rendition of the dramatic hit single is already at 15 million hits and counting. It sure didn't take long for the music industry to come calling!

There's been perhaps no bigger supporter of the preteen Oklahoman than Ellen DeGeneres, who had him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week. Not only did Chance perform his now-famous take on 'Paparazzi,' but Lady Gaga herself called in to wish him well, telling him, "Greyson, you're so sweet and so talented, and I was so excited that you covered 'Paparazzi'. Everyone loves you so much. Just keep following your dreams and work really hard, and stay away from girls and be focused."

According to JustJared, Gaga's blessing was soon reportedly followed by a record deal from her label, Interscope (home to the likes of U2, Black Eyed Peas, Sheryl Crow, Eminem, Gwen Stefani, and Sting!). While this 12-year-old may not have as many YouTube hits (yet!) as say, the "Chocolate Rain" guy, he's certainly proof that the Susan Boyle era of viral sensations becoming genuine musical stars is far from over.
Meanwhile, this kid's talent certainly has some asking: is the Justin Bieber era over? As Eclipse star (and father of three daughters) Peter Facinelli tweeted last week about the up-and-comer, "Watch your back Bieber... That's all I'm sayin'."
