chime in nowGot a two-packs-a-day habit (or live with someone who does)? Lou Manfredini, Ace's "Helpful Hardware Man," has advice on getting rid of the cig stink: 1. Wash all hard-surface floors with a good cleaner like Simple Green or Pine Sol. And wash all the walls with Spic and Span, warm water and a sponge. You’ll need to repeat. 2. Use a steam cleaner to clean and disinfect the carpeting (you will need to do at least two passes). And use the upholstery attachment to do the same with the furniture. 3. Change the filters in the furnace, and if the smell is really bad, have the duct work cleaned professionally, which may cost you around $300. 4. Use odor-neutralizing products like Fresh Wave. The crystal-gel-and-soy candle will have the place smelling fresh in 24 hours! 5. A fresh coat of paint can help as well. Use interior paints that are heavy on acrylic content (like Ace Sensations) to stick to your cleaned walls and seal in any lingering odor.
