Gwyneth Paltrow to Guest Star on 'Glee'

The actress joins the slew of high-wattage stars set to appear on the second season of the hit musical show

Glee is back tonight, and with the second season of our favorite McKinley High singers and dancers comes a whole new slew of guest stars. The latest big name to join the cast is Gwyneth Paltrow, who has signed on to appear in two November episodes.

Sources tell E! News that Paltrow will be flexing her vocal muscles as a substitute teacher/glee club coach who fills in for an ailing Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison). The Glee kids will love their new teach -- and so will Mr. Shue, which will add some drama to his relationship with Emma (Jayma Mays).

Paltrow and Glee creator Ryan Murphy (who met when Murphy directed the actress in 2006's Running With Scissors) are good pals, and it is being said that he created this role especially for her.

Paltrow will be joining the likes of Britney Spears, Javier Bardem and John Stamos, who will also have guest stints on the Fox hit this season.

Season 2 of Glee premieres tonight at 8 p.m.
