Gwyneth Paltrow seems like one of those enviable women who's never had a bad hair day -- let alone a "fat day" -- in her life! But in a new interview, the A-list actress, 37, reveals that she struggled with her post-pregnancy weight more than she ever expected.
"After my first pregnancy, the weight had come off a little bit better but after the second one it was really stubborn," says the mother of Apple, 6, and Moses, 4. "(Losing) it was not easy and, when I started it, it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done -- but I really was seeing results so it motivated me to just work through it."
Paltrow credits celebrity personal trainer and business partner Tracy Anderson (who claims to have lost 60 pounds of pregnancy weight using her own techniques). The actress also says "every woman can make time" for her workout. "There've been countless times where I've worked out with my kids crawling around all over the place," she boasts. "You just make it work, and if it's important to you, it'll be important to them."
We do find it reassuring that lithe, fashionable Paltrow is capable of packing on pounds, and had to work so hard to get back into shape. But is anybody else getting some seriously mixed signals from the actress? On the one hand, losing the baby weight was the hardest thing that Gwyneth Paltrow -- no doubt aided by nannies, trainers and a personal chef -- ever did. On the other hand, any woman can do it -- all you need to do is make time! Since most new moms have less than zero extra time -- let alone the physical energy for a grueling regular workout -- we're taking these claims with a grain of salt. But if you're more optimistic, Anderson and Paltrow's new DVD, the Tracy Anderson Post-Pregnancy Workout, goes on sale July 19. (Just be sure to consult your doctor before beginning ANY postpartum workout.)
