Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about a very personal chapter in her life. The actress, 40, told the UK Daily Mail's YOU magazine that she was pregnant with a third child after Apple, 8, and Moses, 6. Sadly, she suffered a miscarriage that was not only devastating, but life-threatening.
"I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third and it didn’t work out and I nearly died," Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, explained.
Though she didn't go into details, the Oscar-winner implied that the experience has made her wary about becoming pregnant again -- understandably so. Still, she is not ruling out the possibility of becoming a mother again.
"My children ask me to have a baby all the time and you never know -- I could squeeze one more in," she mused. "I am missing my third. I am thinking about it."
Gwyneth is not the first celebrity to share her miscarriage experience, but her story has a lot of impact coming from a woman who seems to have such a perfect life. It's a reminder that miscarriage is a very common experience, with an increased risk for women who are 35-45 years old. So all those celebrities who seem to effortlessly become mothers around 40? Chances are, quite a few of them have miscarriage stories they've kept to themselves.
That said, women of all ages are affected by miscarriage -- like Beyonce, who recently revealed that her first pregnancy ended in miscarriage when she was in her late 20s.
Fortunately for both Beyonce and Gwyneth, they were blessed with beautiful children. In fact, Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter is one of the reasons Paltrow still has baby pangs!
"Blue Ivy is totally delish. She’s made me very broody," Paltrow confessed.
