'Hair' to Close on Broadway

After disappointing ticket sales, the musical revival will come to end next month

The sun won't be shining too much longer on Broadway's cast of Hair. According to a press release from the producers, the final curtain will fall on the revival next month.

The Tony Award-winning show, which currently stars American Idol alums Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo (who get naked during the show!), will have its last performance on July 27 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre "having recouped [the show's] entire investment and generating a profit," the release reads.

The revival of Hair opened on Broadway three years ago, and went on to win the 2009 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical, but ticket sales dropped significantly after the original cast left Broadway in March to perform the show on London’s West End. According to reports, the show played to a less-than-half full capacity in recent weeks.

If you won't have the chance to get on the peace train with Hair before the end of July, you can catch a performance when the cast heads out on its first national tour in October.
