Bored of your look? We all are sometimes—but do not worry, a chance is easier than you may think. Our expert stylists weigh in on how you should take your hairstyle to the next level.
Add a Bang
A complimentary bang can give any haircut a totally new look without chopping your hair off, says Nick Arrojo. It's a subtle change that creates a new focal point. A versatile choice is a swing bang—it can be worn straight down, off to either side or pinned up away from the face. For something more dramatic, go for a bold, blunt bang.
Rock the Pony
Never underestimate the power of a great bit of tail. A low pony with your hair wrapped around it, says Arsen Gurgov, a top hairstylist at the Louis Licari Salon, will up your look instantly. Or, consider volumizing the top to add a pompadour-like lift!
Peek a Boo Highlights
If you aren't interested in cutting your hair you can add some panel highlights a couple levels lighter than your natural color in strategic places, advises Arrojo. It adds a punch to your style without a commitment of totally changing your look. It's also not so drastic that it stands out from the crowd—the whole point of the peek a boo is for the color to pop out with the natural movement and swing of your hairstyle.
Twist Again Like We Did Last Summer
If you want a quick, sexy (but easy!) style do-over, Gurgov says to twist hair up into a very retro, French twist. Add one long pin to hold in place.
Switch Up Your Texture
If you have curly hair and you're constantly straightening it—try working with your natural texture," suggests Arrojo. Most cases the reason women don't like their natural texture is because they don't have the right haircut. Layering is the magic word when it comes to a great wavy/curly haircut. Once you have the perfect cut, it will be much easier to embrace your natural texture.
