Halloween: Crayon Kids Costume

Nothing's cuter than a well-planned costume theme for a large group of kids. This budget-friendly idea is sure to draw smiles as you make the neighborhood rounds.

What you need:
7 kids who need costumes
7 packages of different color crepe paper
7 matching color pieces of construction paper
14 pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" white construction paper or poster board
Stapler, tape, hole puncher, string, scissors and black marker

What to do:
Make a different crepe paper cape for each child, being sure to leave movement for arms and legs. If necessary, make a hole for the child's head. Fasten the ends together (which will meet at the front of your child's neck) with a stapler or tape.

Staple the corresponding color construction paper into a tube-like hat. Use the white construction paper and marker to make two identical letter signs for each child and spell out the word "C-R-A-Y-O-L-A." Use the hole puncher to punch two holes in the top of each sign. Cut two pieces of string per child. Tie the signs together with the string through the corresponding holes and place over the shoulders (head through) of the child to create sign for front and back.

Repeat six more times, using a different color paper for each child.

Parent-to-parent advice: Have the children pick their color out of a hat to avoid fits. (Everyone wants to be either red or blue!)
