Use these unique handmade stamps to decorate poster paper for a special gift wrap. They are also fun to use when making birthday or holiday cards.
What You Will Need:
- pieces of rubber inner tube (the leaky ones are often free at tire stores)
- a small block of wood
- stamp pad or felt tip pens
- rubber cement
Cut a piece of inner tube to fit the piece of wood. Ask your child to draw something simple on the piece of inner tube, then carefully cut the drawing out. Brush rubber cement on the inside of the inner tube (the smooth rubber side must face out), and on the block of wood. Wait a few seconds, then press them firmly together. An adult should cut and assemble the stamp for younger children. After the glue sets, the stamp is ready to use with felt tip pens or a stamp pad.
These stamps make a nice gift for children ages two and up when they're accompanied by a set of felt tips or a stamp pad. A child's name or a holiday symbol can be carved on the stamp to mark a special occasion.
