'Harry Potter' Star Eyeing a Rap Career?

Tom Felton, a.k.a. Draco Malfoy in the Potter films, reportedly has a record deal and wants to get into the U.K. rap scene

Well, the magic couldn't last forever. Last week marked the London premiere of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2, the eighth and final movie in the boy-wizard saga. With the series wrapped, the films' stars must find other work. For 23-year-old Tom Felton, who played privileged bully Draco Malfoy, that could mean a whole new direction.

"I'm going to change my image -- backward caps, the lot," he told the British tabloid, The Sun.

What on earth for? According to The Sun, Felton just signed a record deal with a British independent record label to launch a rap career. And for that, his current clean-cut image just won't do.

For those familiar with the British hip-hop world, Felton gave some details: "I was thinking of doing some N-Dubz-style stuff," he said. "I am looking to get into the grime rap U.K. scene."

Ironically, in a recent interview with USA Weekend, Felton's costar Daniel Radcliffe poo-poo'd the concept of an acting-music crossover. "Nobody wants to see actors in bands, just like we don't want to see musicians in films," he said.

We can't tell if Felton is joking around, going the Joaquin Phoenix I'm Still Here route, or really is 100 percent serious about trying to be the British Vanilla Ice -- but he currently has five post-Potter movies, including this summer's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, in production or awaiting release. Hey, at least he's not giving up his day job.
