Having a baby is a game-changer at any age -- but when you're a little bit, ahem, older when you have your first baby, there are some unique pros and cons. From feeling like a dinosaur on the playground to the joy of really feeling ready, here's what nobody told us about having a baby later in life.
Making Mom Friends Can Be Harder
When you have a baby while most of your friends are sending their own offspring to school, it can be harder to find new mom friends. Younger moms may not relate to your career or personal concerns and your older mom pals may be uninterested in reliving the baby stage. (Or they're too busy organizing adult-only vacations while you're trying to get your baby to sleep through the night). Eventually you'll find your peeps (a mom's group where you all have a common bond can help), but feeling close connections may be harder at first.
