"These burgers are both familiar and exotic at the same time, making them a great choice for a Fourth of July cookout. Picky eaters are comforted by the fact that they are burgers, and the more adventurous among us appreciate the grilled pineapple (instead of the ubiquitous and not-quite-in-season tomato) and sweet-savory flavor."
Rachel Rappaport, Coconut & Lime
| 1 pound ground pork | 1/4 teaspoon pineapple juice | |
| 4 tablespoons panko | White pepper | |
| 2 tablespoons soy sauce | Salt | |
| 2 cloves garlic, grated | 4 pineapple slices, for serving | |
| 1-inch knob fresh ginger, grated | Hawaiian rolls, for serving |
With a gentle hand, mix together all of the burger ingredients. Form into 4 patties. Grill over medium heat about 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Make sure the burger is cooked all the way through. Raw or "rare" pork is not your friend. In the last minute of cooking, grill the pineapple slices. Serve on Hawaiian rolls.
