Formula, like milk, is subject to rapid spoilage at room temperature. If it has been heated, it is even more rapid because heat speeds up the chemical reactions that bring about the degradation.

Therefore, no formula should be out more than two to three hours. Because babies are such a sensitive population to the harm of ingested, unwanted bacteria, I suggest that if a heated formula is not eaten right away, that it immediately be put back in the refrigerator, and then be reheated when needed.
