Now that they've realized they can't live (or make money) without one another, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are declaring their love the only way they know how: with a photo op. On Sunday, Pratt, 26, and Montag, 24, renewed their vows at "a secret little beach" in California. Although the ceremony was private, the former Hills stars were considerate enough to invite Entertainment Tonight's camera crew and reporters to the wedding. Pratt and Montag's first wedding, if you recall, was big and expensive -- and appeared on The Hills, of course. So why the do-over?
"(This time) it's just me and my bride," Pratt explained to ET. "Versus last time it was about everything else, it was about drama, it was about ratings."
"It was about everything but us," Montag agreed, "so this is really our first wedding about Spencer and I and our love. Now I feel like I can just be Heidi and just be in a marriage and just be a person."
If this Speidi lovefest is making you feel a little queasy, you may want to turn away before this next part: the near-bankrupt reality stars had the entire "dream wedding" donated to them. The dress, the cake, the rings -- all free. (To be fair, the dress for Heidi's first walk down the aisle cost $19,000, while the new one probably cost closer to $7,000 -- but still! Free!)
So -- is Speidi's commitment for real this time? Spencer and Heidi are claiming that this wedding was the real deal, and the previous one was a total fraud -- which obviously isn't true, because if it were a total fraud, they wouldn't have stayed married. Was the first wedding a publicity stunt? Was the vow renewal ceremony a publicity stunt? They're saying no, but we bet the folks behind Entertainment Tonight's cameras would say otherwise.
In truth, we have no idea if anything Spencer and Heidi do is for real anymore. But we do know that the wedding is conveniently timed with Pratt's new business venture: a reality show that he's promoting as a younger, wilder, California-based version of Jersey Shore. Montag, meanwhile, is promoting her haircare line and shooting a strip club-based music video for her new single. But if you just want to know more about the wedding, don't worry -- ET will be rolling out new videos of the "private" ceremony all week.
