If you’ve been following Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery odyssey -- and it seems like most of America has -- you know she recently recovered from 10 plastic surgery procedures performed over one 10-hour marathon.
And for the first time since The Hills’ star went under the knife in November, Montag has revealed her new face and figure to her mom, Darlene Egelhoff, traveling to her Crested Butte, Colo., hometown to do so.
The results of the confrontation? Not pretty.
"I never thought in my wildest dreams she was going to react the way she did," Montag, 23, told People.
According to Montag, who filmed the reunion for The Hills, her mother “was looking at me almost like a zoo animal." Montag added, "It wasn't like I was her daughter anymore. She was looking at me like I was a circus freak.”
The wannabe pop star's fittingly named debut album, Superficial, released in January, reportedly sold dismally (about 1000 copies). But Montag, who continues to experience pain from her surgeries, says she has no regrets about her decision to revamp her appearance to boost her career. "I wanted to be the most beautiful, inside and out. It's part of being a pop star," she says.
Regarding her mother’s response to her transformation, Montag was candid. "I think she was most upset that Spencer [Pratt, Montag’s husband] was there for me and she wasn't,” she told People. “She was saying how sad it is that my confidence is gone because of the music industry I'm trying to get into."
