Hell's Kitchen Recap

Well here we are at the last three. I have to admit I thought from the beginning Corey and Christina would be here, but I was a little shocked to see Petrozza. I honestly thought Bobby was going to be in the final three, but that might have just been because he was so cocky. I'm just glad Matt is long gone.

The day after elimination Chef Ramsay cooked his signature dish for the remaining chefs. But before he could do that, Chef Ramsay brought out the chefs' families to say hello. Petrozza's dad, by the way, looked exactly like him sans goatee.

It was all a front though (of course), because after the chefs' families left, Chef Ramsay had each chef try to recreate his dish  based on taste alone. Christina caught onto the twist though and was evaluating each bite while her mom offered suggestions.

Both Petrozza and Christina picked venison over buffalo as the meat in the dish, which was correct, however Petrozza missed the puree entirely, giving Christina the win. She missed the cream (even though her mom said it like ten times) but nailed the white bean puree. If Petrozza had put any sort of puree on there he would have won. Christina was awarded yet another dinner with Chef Ramsay, as well as a tour of the city on a double decker bus with her family. Awww.

Right before dinner service Ramsay told the chefs that each one would be put on the hot plate to run the kitchen. He grabbed each one individually and made them do a little game of role playing. He had each chef scream at him for pretending to screw up a dish. It was kind of hilarious to watch each chef awkwardly yell at Chef Ramsay while he tried to act out a screw up.

During service Ramsay had his two usual sous chefs in the kitchen filling the gaps. Ramsay used this to his advantage making sure each chef had some intentional screw ups to test the contestants.

Petrozza was up to the window first, moving plates along as quickly as he could. Little did he know that Sous Chef Scott was preparing a risotto without peas. When Petrozza started plating the pea-less risotto, he failed to recognize the mistake which did not make Ramsay happy.  On top of that, Christina started messing up at the fish station, causing a back up.  I hope she realizes that she is only sabotaging herself. In the end Petrozza managed to take charge and yell at Christina enough to get it right, which pleased Ramsay.

Up next was Corey. Right off the bat she fell short by missing an entree on the ticket. She managed to do okay after she composed herself, but failed her test just a little too late. She was given the wrong sauce for her wellington but realized it after she already poured it on the food.  Ramsay was not pleased.

Christina was last at the pass and did the best out of the three. I always feel like it is a bit unfair for the first person because they don't necessarily think about looking for the sous chefs' mistakes, while the last one to the window makes it a point to check everything twice. Christina picked up on the messed up mashed potatoes right away. I have to say that one of the best parts of the night was Sous Chef Scott saying Christina better watch her mouth or he is going to smack her. In his defense, she did have a high pitched yell.

After service Ramsay told each chef how they did well and where they fell flat. He then told each chef they had to go back and think of one person to nominate to send home. Corey picked Christina because she thought Christina could not handle being yelled at. Christina decide to pick Corey right back because she could not lead the team. Petrozza naturally picked Christina because of the problems at her station.

Chef Ramsay, of course, decided to have Petrozza stay because of his skills at the helm and at his station. Ramsay then decided to send Corey home and keep Christina as the second finalist. Once again it seems like Ramsay has a bit of an unfair crush on Christina. But if you remember last year, just being blond and a good chef won't necessarily guarantee the job...

So there you have it the final two in Hell's Kitchen. Until next time, Happy Eating!
