Testicular Cancer

About 8,290 cases of testicular cancer will be diagnosed this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Almost all cases are diagnosed in men between the ages of 20 to 54, though it can affect males of any age, including infants.

Getting screened: If your guy finds a lump or swelling of the testicle (there’s usually no pain), or experiences a feeling of heaviness in the lower belly or scrotum, he should see his doctor immediately. “Testicular cancer is typically found in young men, so this group should be instructed in how to perform a self-exam and encouraged to check themselves monthly, ” says Yul Ejnes, M.D., chair of the Board of Regents for the American College of Physicians.
