Bring in the ratings, bring in the cash!
TV Guide just released its annual survey of the highest paid stars on television, and unsurprisingly, those with the biggest paychecks appear on shows with some of the biggest ratings.
Ashton Kutcher is once again the top paid actor in prime time, making $750,000 per episode for his work on the hit CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. CBS is also doling out the most dough to an actor in a drama: NCIS star Mark Harmon rules that list, bringing home $525,000 per episode, plus a piece of the show’s profits.
In late night, there’s a new top earner: Jon Stewart makes between $25-$30 million a year, according to several sources. That puts the Daily Show anchor above Jay Leno and David Letterman, who both make $20 million per year and were previously the perennial late-night salary leaders.
But no one beats Judge Judy. Judy Sheindlin is the top earner in any genre, raking in $47 million a year for her work on the top-rated syndicated daytime show.
