The High/Low: Motorcycle Boots

A bad attitude is not required for kick-butt style

Sometimes I like to pretend that I'm tougher than I am. Kind of like Sammi trying to fight JWoww on Jersey Shore. And, for those moments, I need a good pair of don't-mess-with-me motorcycle boots. They're totally seasonless (minus 90-degree, humid summer days), and will seriously up your cool cred when worn with any outfit -- from skinny jeans to flower dresses. So, release your inner biker mama with these two picks -- one steep, one cheap:

High: You don't need to know Ducati from drag pipes to look like you do. Just pull on the mid-calf Harley Boots from dsquared2 -- the ultimate road-trip accessory. With a logo-embossed harness strap and classic style, this footwear would make Steve McQueen envious ($825 at Ssense).

Low: They're not real leather, obviously. But if you want the look without forking over a week's pay, you'll have to sacrifice quality. This inexpensive copycat version features a side zip entry and buckle with chain detail around the back ($34.99 at Tilly's).
