The Hills won't be alive for much longer. A source confirms that the MTV reality show will be putting an end to their drama, when the upcoming season, their sixth, comes to close.
"We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years,” MTV’s President of Programming Tony DiSanto said in a statement. “We owe it to those fans, the cast and the show to go out on a high note. And this season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion and an organic culmination of this saga.”
So, what should we expect from the last season of the Laguna Beach spin-off that thrust the likes of tortured Lauren Conrad, flighty Audrina Patridge, ruthless Kristin Cavallari, debonair Brody Jenner, and, of course, the love-to-hate-them Heidi and Spencer Pratt, into our living rooms?
Well, producers are promising this last season will be the juiciest of them all, with storylines centering around Heidi's plastic surgery marathon, Patridge's new romance with Ashlee Simpson's ex Ryan Cabrera, Cavallari's maybe-drug abuse, and Stephanie Pratt's fallout from her DUI arrest. There's even rumblings that original star Conrad, who left the show in 2009, will make a grand finale appearance.
The Hills' final 12 episodes will begin airing on MTV on April 27.
