Kristin Cavallari, you’re no Lauren Conrad.

The ratings for The Hills season premiere were down 30 percent compared to last season’s debut, which featured LC.

Heidi Montag might be eating her words. Mrs. Pratt went on record to brush off the notion that the show would miss Conrad. “We don’t need her. We’ll miss her. I just don’t know if we need her,” Montag told MTV News.

Uh, I think you need her.

Kristin, a Laguna Beach alum, was brought on to this season of the MTV reality series in order to fill the void left by Lauren’s departure.

Combine that with the fact that the show feels more scripted than ever (I bet you Enzo is a card-carrying SAG member at the age of 6) and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that ratings are down.

MTV is spinning this bad news by pointing out that the show is the highest-rated cable program in the channel’s target audience (12-34) and the highest-rated program on television in the 10 p.m. Tuesday timeslot for that demographic.

Who would have guessed that The City would be the better show of the two?

With Stephanie Pratt and Audrina Patridge also wanting out, we could be looking at the beginning of the end for The Hills. Do you think The Hills is over? Chime in below!
