Giblets in the turkey

After a day of slaving away in the kitchen, your picture-perfect turkey emerges from the oven beautifully bronzed and ready to be carved. Just when you’re about to give yourself a big pat on the back, you realize that you left that pesky bag of giblets inside the bird!

Solution: According to the USDA, your bird is fine if the paper or plastic pouch that the giblets were packed in does not melt or burn. If you notice any changes, especially with the plastic pouches, don’t eat the turkey.
