We have to admit that we were a little shocked to hear that Hugh Hefner had proposed to his new girlfriend over the holidays -- but it was nothing compared to how the news affected the Playboy mogul's ex, Holly Madison.

"I'm very surprised," Madison told E! News, of Hefner's plans to marry Crystal Harris. "I have a lot of different feelings on it. I don't just feel one way. I kind of didn't want to put a generic statement out there like 'Congratulations!' because I felt everyone would see through that."

The news was particularly tough on Madison, since she and Hef split in October 2008 because he couldn't commit to marrying her. But the Holly's World star decided to put on a brave face and meet with the newly engaged couple at the Playboy Mansion on Wednesday.

"I wanted to see him and Crystal and tell everybody face-to-face how I felt," she said.

So, how did the big confrontation go? "It was definitely awkward, but good," the former Girls Next Door star says of the meeting, which was all caught on tape and will air on Jan. 29.  "A lot of people congratulated him on Twitter, but for me, it was such a personal thing. I wanted to go there."

Holly's World premieres on E! on Jan. 23.
