Home-Made Finger Paint

Uncooked #3
(Not as smooth and thick as the cooked kind)

What you need:
• 1 cup dry laundry starch
• 1 cup cold water
• 3 cups soap flakes
What to do:
Mix all ingredients together for a quick, no-cook fingerpaint.

Uncooked #4

What you need:
• 1 cup dry laundry starch
• 1/2 cup cold water
• 1 1/2 cups boiling water
• 3/4 cup powdered detergent
What to do:
• Put the dry starch in saucepan.
• Gradually add the cold water, stirring until smooth.
• Add the boiling water, stirring rapidly and continually.
• Add the detergent and stir again until smooth.

Uncooked #5
(Use this recipe for extremely bright colors)

What you need:
• 1 T soap powder
• 1/4 cup liquid starch
• 1/3-1/2 cup water
• 1 one pound can powdered paint
What to do:
• Pour soap powder, starch, and water into blender.
• Gradually add powdered paint while machine is running.
• Blend until smooth.

 

TO BE COOKED

Cooked #1

What you need:
• 4 cups cold water
• 6 teaspoons of cornstarch
What to do:
• Mix a small amount of cold water with cornstarch until smooth.
• Gradually add the remainder of the water.
• Cook the mixture over low heat until it is clear and the consistency of pudding.
• Add tempera for color.

Cooked #2

What you need:
• 2 cups flour
• 4 cups cold water
• food coloring or dry tempera
What to do:
• Mix flour and water and cook over low heat until thick
