A Dramatic Living Room

As viewers know, Alex and Simon aren't afraid to take risks, whether it comes to speaking their minds, fashion or home décor. "We both have pretty eclectic taste," says Alex. "Our idea of hell is living in a plain white room." So the couple opted for a bold living room, coating the walls with Benjamin Moore's Million Dollar Red. The sofas, chair, coffee table and side tables are all from Maurice Villency, while the lighting is by Schonbek.

Dramatic? Definitely. But Alex stresses that the space is also very livable. "It might not look like a living room where kids can play, but they spend 80 percent of their time in there," she says. The boys even had a hand in choosing the red sofa. "They went racing through the furniture store, sat on it and said, 'Can we get this?'"Alex recalls.
