We love a good sorority movie -- but sometimes, truth is more entertaining than fiction! An angry email sent from a sorority board member to one of its chapters has gone viral this week, after being published by Gawker. In the email, a student tells her sisters, in no uncertain terms, that they need to be more social during Greek Week. But oh, the anger!
"I've been getting texts on texts about people LITERALLY being so f**king AWKWARD and so f**king BORING," the sorority sister writes, in one of the email's less obscene passages. "If you're reading this right now and saying to yourself 'But oh em gee Julia, I've been having so much fun with my sisters this week!,' then punch yourself in the face right now so that I don't have to f**king find you on campus to do it myself."
We're sure it was no fun to be on the receiving end of the rage-filled missive, but from where we're sitting, it's hilarious. What can we say? She has a way with words. And a lot of misplaced anger.
In honor of Angry Sorority Girl (who already has her own parody Twitter account!), here are five other sorority sisters who have entertained us... at the movies.
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde)
It's impossible not to fall in love with Elle, who goes to Harvard Law School to win back a dismissive boyfriend, but discovers she's actually a legal genius. Naturally, her sorority sisters are behind her all the way!
Shelley Darlingson (Anna Faris) and Natalie (Emma Stone), House Bunny
Anna Faris is hilarious as the daffy ex-Playboy model trying to overhaul a nerdy sorority. And watching Stone learn how to be sexy -- before she was a real-life sex symbol! -- is priceless.
Sydney (Amanda Bynes), Sydney White
Remember when Amanda Bynes made us laugh, instead of making us worry? In this charming rom-com, based on Snow White, she's booted from the coolest sorority by a vengeful sister -- and moves into a house full of dorky fraternity boys. (The seven dorks, get it?)
Adam/Adina (Michael Rosenbaum), Sorority Boys
Best known as Lex Luthor on Smallville, Rosenbaum proved his cross-dressing finesse as a frat boy hiding out in a sorority.
The Girls of Theta Pi (Audrina Patridge, Rumer Willis, Jamie Chung), Sorority Row
Okay, so maybe this doesn't actually qualify as a great sorority movie -- but it does qualify as a so-bad-it's-good horror film. And after seeing Audrina Patridge act her butt off on The Hills, who wouldn't want to see her take those skills to the big screen?
Honorable Mention: The ladies of EEK, HSS and PNK, Monsters University
This Monsters Inc prequel isn't out yet, but judging from the character art, we're going to love every member of these monstrous sisterhoods.
