With Hope Solo's new husband, Jerramy Stevens, in jail for a possible probation violation following his domestic violence arrest, the women's soccer star is speaking out to declare that her husband has never hit her.
"Let me set the record straight!!! Jerramy has NEVER treated me poorly!" Solo, 31, wrote on her Whosay page. "The truth always prevails!" Solo penned her defense of her huband, a former NFL tight end, as a caption to a photo that Solo posted of herself and Stevens.
Police in Washington State picked up Stevens, 33, on Nov. 12 after responding to a melee in which Solo's arm appeared cut. After Stevens admitted that he and Solo had been quarreling, police arrested him for fourth-degree domestic violence.
Solo, the starting goalie of the U.S. Women's Soccer Team, married Stevens the very next day, hours after police released him. Authorities eventually dropped all the charges against Stevens. His arrest, however, violated the terms of his probation from Oct. 2010, when he was convicted of marijuana possession in Florida. On Wednesday, Florida authorities took Stevens into custody for the possible probation violation.
In response to Wednesday's arrest, Solo wrote on Twitter, "I feel bad for all the ignorance in the world. People are so quick to judge. The media spins stories in such dramatic fashion. I will continue to show love, and never make judgments. I am blessed w True Love & the beautiful game of soccer. I wish everybody the same happiness."
The day before, Solo complained to reporters that Stevens had been unfairly judged by the media.
"It's unfortunate what the media can do to judge before the facts are out there," the AP reported. "It's hard to see, but it's a hard truth, and it's part of life," she said. "I'm happy. I'm happily married. I would never stand for domestic violence. I've never been hit in my life."
