Hope Solo has created a lot of memories participating in the Olympics -- and some of them have nothing to do with trying to win medals.
The gold medalist tells ESPN that if people think the Olympic Village is full of puritanical athletes focusing solely sports, they're wrong. The athletes of the world, in addition to preparing for their various competitions, are also hooking up wherever and whenever possible.
"There's a lot of sex going on," says Solo, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. "With a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you want to build memories, whether it's sexual, partying or on the field."
For the two weeks the Olympians are all huddled together, the Village becomes one big sex-fest, the soccer champ explains.
"I've seen people having sex right out in the open," she says. "On the grass, between buildings, people are getting down and dirty."
Swimmer Ryan Lochte, 27, agrees and adds that he believes "70 percent to 75 percent of Olympians" hook up with each other. "Hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do."
And sometimes that hooking up -- and partying -- involves celebrities, Solo reveals.
"I probably shouldn't tell you this, but we met a bunch of celebrities. Vince Vaughn partied with us. Steve Byrne, the comedian. And at some point we decided to take the party back to the village," Solo recalls. "We started talking to the security guards, showed off our gold medals, got their attention and snuck our group through without credentials -- which is absolutely unheard of."
As for the Dancing with the Stars alum's own wild times in the Olympic Village, Solo admits she has her share of naughty memories.
"I may have snuck a celebrity back to my room without anybody knowing, and snuck him back out," Solo adds. "But that's my Olympic secret."
