You can make this mix ahead of time and then give it as a gift, along with instructions on how to make hot buttered rum. Throw in a mug and bottle of rum to boot!

| 1 cup butter, softened | 2/3 cup dark rum | |
| 1 cup confectioners' sugar (must be sifted) | 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg | |
| 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar | 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon | |
| 4 tablespoons honey | 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
Combine butter and sugars and cream until well blended. Mix in remaining ingredients and beat until creamy. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
To make hot buttered rum: In a 9-ounce mug, combine 1 jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of rum with 1 heaping tablespoon of mix. Fill mug with boiling apple cider or water. Stir.
