More to Love about Jon...
1. How does it feel like to win your category?
I never would have imagined winning. I'm honored. I hope I represent all of the great single dads across the country.
2. Tell us a little about your kids.
I have two fantastic boys. Everen, 12, and Christian, 9. They're about as opposite as they come...personality, mannerisms, etc. But I'm so proud of who they are becoming, especially since they've had to deal with the death of their mom at such early ages. Their dream: to be Rock Stars. (They actually have a band.)
3. What’s the best thing about being a dad?
The best thing about being a dad is having the opportunity to help (and watch) my boys slowly grow into the men they want to be. I stand back and watch from a distance when they perform sometimes, and I can't help getting a little emotional as I think about what they've had to overcome, and what they dream of accomplishing in spite of it. And there's nothing more rewarding than hearing them say that they're happy.
4. What do you like to do with your free time?
I work hard at being in the best shape I can be, which is challenging when there really isn't any free time in my schedule as a full-time dad with a full-time job. If I have a chance to read, it's something related to faith or growing as a man. I guess I'd say I do all I can to perfect who I am as a man, so that I can model what a real man is to my boys. And when there's time, I love mixing in some crazy adventure. (I jumped on my own the first time I went skydiving...couldn't imagine strapping myself to someone else.)
5. What do you do for a living?
I'm currently the Webmaster for what I want to believe is a quasi-government/secret service operation in San Diego, California. I'm also a co-founder of the single parent social network, SingleDad.com, and a published author.
