Though it was only a breezy, seventy degrees outside, it was hot inside The Today Show studios as the finalists in the first annual iVillage Hot Dads Contest gathered with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb to crown the hottest dad in America.
Definitely not a bad way to spend a Monday morning, ladies.
Before stepping onto the set, the five handsome daddies, some of their wives and one beautiful baby boy bonded inside Today’s green room for some primping (not that they needed it!) at the hands of the amazing hair and make-up team. There was time for picture-taking, exchanging Facebook messages, and even meeting a famous face or two. Musician and producer David Foster and America’s Got Talent star soprano Jackie Evancho posed for pictures with a few of the foxy dads. (Other celebs spotted inside: E! News host and TV personality Giuliana Rancic, actress Angela Basset, and KISS frontman Gene Simmons and his partner, Shannon Tweed, who also graciously posed for pictures.)
As the sexiest segment on morning television neared, some of the guys became a little nervous. Kathie Lee and Hoda giggled with the dads, and soon it was time for iVillage's own Liz Zack to reveal the name of the winner. The lucky guy? Military man James Tritle, of North Pole, Alaska. As his name was called, his wife, Angela, gasped and ran onto the set. Take a look:

Later, as the sweet couple embraced with Rockefeller Center in the background, Tritle asked, "So, are you going to make the hottest dad in America take out the trash?" Maybe he missed the memo: Taking out the trash is hot, too.
After the segment iVillage's Chief Correspondent Kelly Wallace spoke with the five dads about what makes them so hot, and what their friends and family think of their new titles.
