Is Foreman really going to resign? Is House gonna get it on with a hottie nutritionist named Honey? Is Hugh Laurie going to fall in love with me? Let's find out... Patient of the Week: 19-year-old female, Addy, who in the middle of karate beat down on a boy, starts coughing up blood. I know from watching this show that's not a good sign.
House and the gang try to figure out what caused the blood and where it came from when Cuddy comes in and summons House and Foreman to House's office. Cuddy accepts Foreman's resignation, but wants to know why. House answers the question "because he's afraid to turn into me." Cuddy says that's a good enough reason and hands Foreman some papers to sign. Cam and Chase are all a twitter wondering what is going on. I even like Cam, but her schoolgirl gossip antics drive me crazy. Mostly because it makes it seem like a woman can never be professional without being caddy in the workplace. Ladies, is that true? Are we all just a bunch of 13-year-old girls in grown up bodies?
It's obviously not Jennifer Morrison's fault, she's just written that way. I guess the male writers in Hollywood don't think very highly of women in the workplace even in 2007.
Wow, major digression. Foreman comes clean and tells the other two he resigned. Chase wants to know why Foreman is leaving, but he won't come clean, so Chase concludes that Foreman is ashamed of the reason. Foreman tells Chase the reason he won't tell him because he doesn't like Chase and never has. So if Foreman doesn't actually leave, this is going to strain their relationship, woudn't you say?
They're having this heart to heart while the patient is in the other room getting a stress test. These are really good doctors who ignore their patients while talking personal problems. Much like that other medical drama Grey's Anatomy. I would hate to be a patient in that hospital.
House insists the girl has an infection. Chase and Foreman think it’s a million other things, but have to listen to the big guy. Chase asks House why Foreman is leaving. House deflects the question with a joke, leading Chase to say that House is ashamed of the reason too. House smiles at this revelation.
House heads into Wilson’s office. It’s coffee sharing time and it’s Wilson’s turn to buy. They chat about Foreman leaving and how Foreman is worried he’s going to turn into House. During the convo, Wilson yawns. House is intrigued by said yawn. Wilson shouldn’t be yawning because House just told him something interesting, he’s drinking coffee and House didn’t yawn, which leaves the only other option: the yawning is a symptom. This sends House on a mission to find out what it could be a symptom of. This is bad news for the patient because now House’s attention is no longer going to be on her. Sorry, college co-ed, House is onto something more interesting. Which means I probably won’t be re-visiting your case either.
House asks his gang what yawning can be a symptom of, Chase suggests anti-depressants. House decides to test out that theory by dosing Wilson with amphetamines. He dumps the drugs into an espresso and hands it to Wilson and tells him it’s a thank you coffee for all the coffees he’s been buying him. Wilson is immediately suspicious of House’s goodwill and grabs the other coffee on the desk… the one with the drugs. Classic switch-er-roo.
Meanwhile down in the clinic, House is treating a guy with floating bowel movements. His girlfriend, Piper Perabo, AKA Honey, accompanies him. She’s a hottie that House wants big time. She’s a nutritionist who gives her resume to House for a possible job. I’m guessing he wants her digits, but not for a job… hubba hubba.
Cam tells foreman that he’s a better doctor than before he started working for House, once again this private conversation takes place while the patient is in the MRI and her head explodes. Like seriously explodes.
Wilson’s amphetamines kick in which is quite possibly one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen on this show and in Robert Sean Leonard’s career. He tries to talk to Foreman but can’t seem to speak coherently. He runs out of his office and while giving a woman a breast exam and talking a mile a minute, he winks at her inappropriately. And then freaks out about winking at her and his heart starts racing. He confronts House about dosing him. House admits it, but said Wilson lied to him. House wanted to prove if Wilson was on anti-depressants and wants to know why. House tries to act hurt by this secret, but Wilson bites back. House says its strange that the fact that Wilson was on anti-depressants didn’t come up all those times he was pompously lecturing him on what to do with his life (he does have a point there, Wilson) But Wilson says House refused to take them and instead did things like overdose on Vicodin. House says he’ll take one right now, but Wilson won’t hand one over.
How cute is Wilson? Love him!
House is asleep in bed, looking dashing and cute and delicious. Anyway, his phone is ringing and he’s not picking up. So in a very strange scene that really confused me, Cam walks into House’s pitch-black room and gently wakes him up. He doesn’t even question why she is there? There is no “how did you get in” or “what the hell are you doing in my house at 3am?” I mean what if House was getting it on and she just walked right in? Cameron, you’re killing me.
Back at the office, Addy is dying. House goes to tell her, but before he can Foreman tries to humanize him, make him nicer and tries to get him to care about his patient. House realizes the only reason why he’s doing this is because he doesn’t want to leave his job. So instead he’s trying to make House nicer so that if Foreman turns into House, it would be a kindler, gentler version. House calls him in this. Foreman asks House why he makes it all about him. That is a solid point.
House goes into tell Addy she’s dying. In the middle of his speech, Addy asks him why he’s smiling. Is he happy that he’s telling her this news? House realizes he isn’t happy, but hazy. House heads to Wilson’s office. House now realizes Wilson has been dosing him with anti-depressants in the coffees. House is pissed, but Wilson points out how relaxed House has been recently. He’s even started smiling. In this conversation, House realizes what’s wrong with his patient. She’s not dying, but she’s trying to kill herself. Thankfully House swoops in in time and saves her life. He even talks to her parents and makes sure she gets the help she needs to not kill herself again. House on anti-depressants, what a guy.
House shows up at a bar and finds the hottie nutritionist waiting for him. She thinks it’s a job interview, he says he’s interviewing her for something. She says he has the upper hand since she knows nothing about him. House comes clean: he tells her he’s on anti-depressants, does drugs and isn’t faithful to the women he dates. Honey doesn’t blink an eye and replies; “you don’t seem depressed,” skipping over all the red flags he’s just revealed to her. House totally likey!
I want him to get some serious action and from the comments you guys have left, I know I'm not the only one. But who with? I think Cuddy is the better choice, but that's just me.
