The "I'm Going to Be a Dad" Photo Project -- Wish We'd Done This!

I’m a sucker for a good a photo project, like those tear-inducing stop-motion pictures of a growing pregnant belly. And those month-by-month “how-my-baby-has-grown” projects where the kiddo wears a onesie with her age on it for a whole year. Love and love!

But I have to say, English photographer and dad-to-be, Tom Robinson, has these projects beat in terms of on-the-ball-ness. When he and his wife Verity learned they were expecting, they decided to get reaction shots from each important person they shared their life-changing news with. Since Robinson is a photographer by trade, friends and family weren’t thrown when he said Hey, can I take a photo of you? "I'd snap a few frames, then while continuing to hold the camera up, I’d move my head to one side and say,'Guess what [pause], I’m going to be a dad.' Snap, snap, snap," says Robinson.

The result is a funny and heart-warming collection of candid photographs. There’s grandma-to-be wide eyed with her hand over her mouth, the jaw-to-floor friend who was saying FU** as the picture was taken, the vaguely interested uncles-to-be who barely looked away from their video game to hear the news. Each one is special. And the best part? You don't need to be a professional photographer to pull this off yourself.
