Musty is a definite must not. “Open all the windows to air out the home so it smells clean,” suggests Sabrina Fierman, Vice President of New York's Little Elves, a premier Manhattan-based cleaning service, then deodorize your space using your favorite scented room spray. Spray pillows, upholstery and other textiles with a fabric spray. Sprinkle scented carpet powder if you’re planning to vacuum. And be sure to light some scented candles—both for the heady aroma and setting the mood. Also, avoid any cleaning products that are overly antiseptic (you don’t want your home to smell like a hospital).
